First of all, I'm not explaining my absence.
Had written this a few weeks ago...
So, I craved for sakkarai pongal and incidentally it was Pongal/Sankrathi last week. I went to Sand's crockpot recipe and started the process. If you notice, she has Paal payasam listed first and Sakkarai Pongal later. Well, my scroll bar got messed up and I ended up adding a gallon of milk (from the paal payasam recipe) instead of almost half the amount of liquid she suggested.
End result was a mushy goo that looked like mud, had the fragrance of nothing and had an after taste of Tharti Paal.
I was depressed but Mu-man made sure I cried by saying..
"Yeh gaajar ka halwa thoda fraud hai na?"
And you guys think I should be nice to him??

after taste of tharti pal not bad no? Now you know how the combined recipe tastes. Got to give it to the guy though... He actually displayed something akin to a sense of humor ;) Am proud of you!

Sand, as much as you would like to give him credit for humor, he actually said it with a straight face! He MEANT it!!! that's why I cried!! :))

My pongal attempts always end disastrously too and I am a tamil ponnu for crying out loud :-(

BTW, I had to use the same time settings as recommended in the recipe to clean out the baked on crustiness! crazy I tell ya!
